TurnKey donates $2,000 to Kristo Rai Parish in support of World Youth Day in Portugal.
Background: World Youth Day (WYD) unites young individuals from across the globe in the presence of the Pope. It serves as both a pilgrimage and a joyous celebration of youth, reflecting the universal essence of the Church while passionately evangelizing to the youth. WYD warmly welcomes individuals of all backgrounds, irrespective of their proximity or distance from the Church.
At the diocesan level, WYD is commemorated on Palm Sunday, while every two, three, or four years, it transforms into an international gathering in a city personally selected by the Pope. With the Holy Father’s participation, it brings together millions of young people who come together to celebrate their faith and embrace their affiliation with the Church.
Since its inaugural event in Rome in 1986, World Youth Day has proven to be a nurturing ground for faith, acting as a catalyst for vocations to marriage and consecrated life, as well as a driving force for the evangelization and revitalization of the Church.
Its primary objective is to provide all participants with an encompassing experience of the universal Church, facilitating a personal encounter with Jesus Christ. Furthermore, it serves as a catalyst for revitalizing faith, hope, and charity within the host country’s community. World Youth Day places young people at the forefront and endeavors to promote peace, unity, and fraternity among diverse peoples and nations worldwide.
